Collingwood Canadian MusicFest

Friday, March 2, 2012 10:00am - 4:00pm
Location: Collingwood Collegiate

On Thursday March 1st, Friday March 2nd and Saturday March 3rd,  Collingwood Collegiate plays host to the MusicFest Canada Band competitions.  In total, over 70 highschool bands with close to 3000 musicians from across Southern Ontario will be coming to the competition.

MusicFest is the major High School music event in Canada held in locations across the country. It is an honour to host one of these competitions. Collingwood Collegiate has hosted the Central Ontario portion of the event for many years, a tribute to the CCI music department.

The public is welcome each day from 10am until 4pm.  The Concert Band competition will be held in the CCI "Old Gym".

Jazz Bands will be competing in the CCI "New Gym" on March 1st and 2nd.  The Jazz adjudications will be done in the gym following the performance. You'll have a chance to hear the adjudicators work with the band. This is a very interesting and will provide much  insight to the judging process. If you are a jazz fan and want to know more about the music be sure to attend.

The public is welcome at no cost.

The absolute highlight of the Festival is a very special performance of the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, on Saturday March 3rd, at 7pm sharp.  Regarded as the top concert band in the country, this an absolute treat to hear musicians perform at such a high level and range of different types of music.

We have 50 tickets set aside for the Collingwood Jazz and Blues Society at a cost of $15.00 each available at the main office of Collingwood Collegiate.  Proceeds of  tickets goes to help support the costs associated with running MusicFest, helping to bring music to so many young and talented students.
