G&M Hospital welcomes new Board Chair and new local Board member

COLLINGWOOD, ON – July 22, 2014 – The Collingwood General & Marine Hospital welcomes its new Board Chair, Mr. George Dickson to serve a two year term, as Mrs. Shiela Metras finishes her tenure, but will remain on the Board.

Mr. Dickson joined the Board in 2007 and has served as the Vice Chair from 2012 to 2014, stemming from an extensive career of more than 35 years in the Canadian financial sector.

Mrs. Metras will remain on the Community Engagement Committee and will be actively involved in future Community Updates and presentations.

“I’m excited about this new leadership role and I look forward to working with the CGMH team, physicians and the community,” says Mr. Dickson. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank Shiela Metras for her commitment, drive and community activism. She is a valued member of the Board and we are glad she will be staying on.”

New Board of Trustees member, Mrs. Lesley Paul will begin her term in September. A Collingwood resident her entire life, Mrs. Paul has worked in pharmacy for more than 30 years and brings a wealth of health care experience to the Board. She is also actively involved in the community as a member of the Rotary Club of Collingwood – South Georgian Bay Charter.

Mr. Rino Stradiotto has retired from the Board after serving a term from (2007 – 2014). He was thanked by the Board for his passion, hard work and dedication to the hospital. A retired lawyer, he dedicated much of his practice to health law.

“Mr. Stradiotto was a very passionate member of our Board and we were very grateful for his legal expertise and advice. He stayed abreast of health care issues across the province and was very diligent in communicating these cases and lessons learned to the CGMH Board. He will be particularly missed,” says Mrs. Shiela Metras, former Board Chair.

The 2014/15 Board of Trustees includes: George Dickson (Board Chair), Thom Paterson (Vice Chair & Treasurer), Ron Anderson, David Finbow, Linda Flemington, Joe Gardhouse, Joe Halos, Brian Hickey, Pam Kinzie, Lesley Paul, Shiela Metras, Robert Turner.

Medical staff representatives include: Dr. Michael Lisi, Chief of Staff, Dr. Darryl D’Costa, President, Medical Staff and Dr. Nicole Green, Vice President, Medical Staff. Hospital representatives include: Norah Holder, Vice President Patient Services and CNE, and Guy Chartrand, Secretary of the Board, President and CEO.
