STAFF REPORTS

CAO2014-09 SMALL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE CENTRE AGREEMENT
The Small Business Enterprise Centre has been successfully providing support to start-up and existing small businesses in the area for the past seven years, and with the signing of the new agreement, will be able to continue the beneficial work in our community.

Serving the Town of Collingwood, the Town of Wasaga Beach, the Town of The Blue Mountains and the Township of Clearview, the Small Business Enterprise Centre is fully funded by the province of Ontario, with some support from the municipalities.

A new three-year agreement was signed with the province of Ontario and does not contain any significant changes from the previous agreement.

CAO2014-10 FUNDING REQUEST FOR THE COUNTY OF SIMCOE’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUNDING 2014
The County of Simcoe has dedicated up to $50,000 of funding in 2013 and 2014 to assist with local economic development. Funding was provided to the Town of Collingwood in 2013 for the creation of an updated Economic Development Strategy, an economic development website and an updated Community Profile. These activities are currently in progress.

The Town of Collingwood will be requesting 2014 County Economic Development funding for the creation of the Business Development Centre in order to offset some of the costs associated with this new initiative.

C2014-12 COMPLIANCE AUDIT COMMITTEE
A Compliance Audit Committee is required under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, and is responsible for investigating complaints made by electors who have reasonable grounds to believe that a candidate has contravened a provision of the Act relating to election campaign finances.

As the current Committee’s mandate ends on November 30, a new committee will need to be established for the upcoming Municipal Election. Council reviewed the applications and appointed four members.
