The Living Wish Foundation reaches milestone of 100 wishes granted!!!

Posted: May 13, 2024

The Living Wish Foundation started in 2018 as a way to create some joy for our palliative patients who were losing hope. With the support of this community, our Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, Hospice Georgian Triangle, and the amazing physicians of South Georgian Bay, we became a registered Canadian charity in 2019.

What would your wish be? It is often about the simple things. Our 100th wish perfectly illustrates this…

Diane was a woman who was not afraid to live her best life, and when faced with the end, she accepted her fate, feeling her story was a happy one. Her final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, laughter, tears and a generous splash of red wine. Diane planned her own Celebration of Life, which she attended joyfully.

The Living Wish Foundation stepped in to help her get party ready, with the generous help of Krista from Love/Hate Salon. She styled Diane’s hair, topping off her work with a crystal tiara purchased especially for the occasion. On her final night, which Diane spent with her best girlfriends by her side, they indulged on gourmet cupcakes donated by Moments to Savour, sparkling water, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

In the end, Diane reminds us that life is about the small things. Good food, good friends, and a good belly laugh. Diane was a woman who knew how to live every single moment.

Our mission is to provide medically supervised and supported end of life wishes to patients in the region who are facing a terminal diagnosis. Through granting wishes we hope to assist people to live with the terminal illness, REFRAME HOPE and enhance their quality of life until their death. These wishes also gift the family with special memories to hold for years to come.
